The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.
Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling and tennis, fitness centre, dining and social amenities. Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.
Position Summary
The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is seeking an experienced, passionate dedicated instructor Group Fitness instructor to assist with growing our current Fitness programs. This individual will have a strong background in Group Fitness, motivating and managing Members and their Guests with an aim to promote overall health, improve muscle tone and strength, and achieve better posture. This position must demonstrate strong communication skills, providing exceptional Member service while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
o Provide Group Fitness instruction to include regular scheduled classes and subclasses
o Must be skilled at proper and safe use of a variety of equipment during each class, including but not limited to, free weights, tubing, medicine balls, stability balls, bosus and steps as needed to ensure a safe yet creative group experience
o Visually inspect the equipment prior to the beginning of class to ensure equipment is in good working order and safe to use
o Responsible for studio tidiness and returning equipment to standards set by Fitness Director
o Must arrive at a set time prior to the beginning of each scheduled class or private/semiprivate session
o Responsible for finding suitable substitute instructor to cover classes when required
o Assist Fitness Director with managing studio schedule and ensure Fitness classes, times, levels are ideal for members
o Regularly inspect equipment for damage or wear and make recommendations to Fitness Manager
Skills & Requirements:
o 3+ years of experience teaching regular group Yoga classes
o Up to date First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification or willingness to obtain
o Pleasant demeanor and excellent customer service skills
o Proven public speaking skills
o Punctual and Reliable
o Degree or higher in Exercise Physiology preferred
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to gracefully and warmly handle large numbers of people at once
o Excellence in customer service
o Group Fitness certification is required
o University Degree/College Diploma in Fitness is an asset
o Group Fitness Leader Certification is an asset
o Personal Training Certification is an asset
o CPR and First Aid and Defib is required
o Incumbent responsible for maintaining Personal Liability Insurance and renew annually
