Role Summary
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Building Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building/property.. Your responsibilities will include routine cleaning tasks, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for both residents and visitors. This position is public facing and as such is expected to be professional in demeanor and appearance at all times.
Typical work week is Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct routine cleaning activities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of floors, hallways, and common areas in various buildings, both indoors and outdoors.
- Collect and empty trash bins, adhering to waste management guidelines for proper disposal. Ensure that trash can liners are replaced as needed.
- Wipe down surfaces such as desks, tables, countertops, windowsills, and door handles to maintain a neat appearance and reduce the spread of germs.
- Adhere to floor care protocols, including sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors. Promptly address spills, stains, or other potential hazards.
- Keep cleaning equipment like vacuums, mops, and dusters clean and in proper working order. Ensure building security by properly locking doors and windows upon completing cleaning tasks. Report any suspicious activities to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with the building manager to communicate maintenance or repair needs, safety concerns, or other building-related issues.
- Organize and prioritize cleaning tasks efficiently to ensure timely completion for all assigned buildings.
Education & Experience
- Requires Grade 12 education.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role doing residential or commercial cleaning is preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to promptly address cleanliness issues, spills, and other potential hazards
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. As well as able to lift and move objects over 30 pounds
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to adhere to assigned work schedules
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing positively as a team player
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet designated deadlines
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with occupants, visitors, and colleagues
