Job description
The APL Mobile Collections department is seeking skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs) to join our team. Mobile MLAs visit patients in long term care facilities and personal residences across mobile service areas. If you have a passion for working with elderly and infirm patients in a challenging and rewarding environment, this opportunity may be for you. This position requires the individual to prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively. It offers the opportunity to work independently offer the ability to work independently, experience variety in work, and to make a difference on a daily basis.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent phlebotomy and ECG experience within the last 2 years. Ability to lift up to 10lbs on a frequent basis. Ability to work independently within a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client services and public relations. Ability to perform repetitive duties efficiently and accurately. Ability to recognize and assist patients in distress. Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours and location of work. Proficiency in data entry.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a mobile collection’s environment. Working knowledge of Connect Care and MCIS. Excellent organizational, problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Leadership, customer service or change management courses.
