Youth Transitions to Adulthood

McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association of Calgary & Area is an organization making a difference in the lives of more than 3700 children, youth, adults and families annually. The Youth Transition to Adulthood (YTA) program provides individualized support to youth to help them prepare for independence. The Transition Worker will be responsible for supporting youth to locate appropriate housing options based on their needs, build their capacity and self-efficacy, make informed choices and plan for their futures, work towards their education or employment goals, access community resources and services, increase their social connections and build a stronger support network.

The Transition Worker will also be actively involved in supporting youth to address various complex needs including addiction and mental health and teaching life skills that will allow the youth to transition successfully into independence. A reliable vehicle is necessary.

The successful candidate will have:

· A Diploma or a Degree in Human Services

· Previous experience working with youth with complex needs

· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

· Knowledge of appropriate community and professional resources

· Strong writing, organizational, program planning, facilitation and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of the Natural Supports Framework would be an asset

· The ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the youth and those involved in their planning including some evenings and weekends

· Current standard First Aid Certification and Suicide Intervention Training

· Police check and Child Intervention Record Check (current within six months)

· Valid Driver’s license and adequate insurance coverage

· A reliable vehicle

Salary Range: $48,318.00 to $53,331.00
