About the Position The Centre for Trades is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Electrician program. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for delivering excellent theoretical and hands-on instruction, and curriculum maintenance using Lethbridge College resources
This is a full-time temporary position that starts August 1, 2024 and ends June 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension. This is a great opportunity for someone to discover if teaching is for them
Position Details - Instruct various essential portions of the program (Lecture, Lab, CBAT, Dual Credit, etc..)
- Promote the program and facilitate recruitment of students
- Manage class schedules
- Track student progress and implement interventions as needed
- Content development and ongoing updates and maintenance
- Use canvas learning management system and Mobius testing programs
- Answer and respond to in-person, telephone, and email inquiries
- Purchase of materials and equipment
- Provide reports and updates to the Associate Dean as needed
- Establish and maintain critical relationships with key partners and stakeholders
- Administrative tasks as needed
Required Qualifications - Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certification, with a minimum of five years’ experience in the trade
- Strong diagnostic skills
- Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software plus an aptitude to learn new software applications and systems
- Self-motivated and ability to work positively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications - Previous formal and/or informal teaching experience is considered an asset
- Red Seal Certification is considered an asset
- Mater Electrician Certificate is considered an asset
Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to the current Faculty Collective Agreement
Working Here Salary for faculty is based on the successful candidate’s highest level of education and experience. For example, if someone has their electrical journeyman certificate and has been working in industry for 14+ years, their starting salary would be $73,920 per annum. Keep in mind, that this is for approximately 9 months of assigned time.
If the contract is extended, employees receive merit increments every July 1, so there is room for growth.
Employees are paid semi-monthly, so the 10th and 25th of each month and Term Certain instructors are paid from August 1, 2024 through until June 30, 2025
