Based in
Sault Ste. Marie, ON , the
Civil Designer will report to the Project Manager (Civil Engineering) and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on design and drawing preparation for civil engineering projects. You will be part of a team that provides solutions in a diverse range of engineering, including Municipal, Transportation, Environmental, Drainage and Hydrology, Land Development, and Utility Scale Renewable Energy Facilities.
What You’ll Do: The Civil Designer will be part of the TULLOCH Engineering team. You will:
- Assist Project Managers in all aspects of project delivery
- Prepare preliminary and detailed designs and drawings for various civil engineering projects (Site plans, Servicing drawings, Drainage, Roads and Highways)
- Perform specification writing
- Ensure plans are in compliance with applicable standards and drafting requirements
- Undertake estimation of tender quantities
- Conduct inspection and contract administration of civil engineering works
- Complete, check, and review technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations

Who You Are: - You have 5+ years experience working in a related role, with at least 2 years experience in the design and construction of civil engineering works
- You have experience in the use of analytical and design software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Experience in the use of Total Station and GPS Survey Equipment would be considered an asset
- OACETT C.E.T or C. Tech. designation would be considered an asset
- You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork
- You can exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
- You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
- You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
What You Should Bring: The ideal candidate will have a college diploma from a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology program (or equivalent experience). Additionally, you should have:
- High motivation with results-oriented focus
- Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Unwavering commitment to health & safety in the workplace
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A valid Class G driver’s licence
