We are currently searching for a driven professional to join our Operations & Engineering Team in the position of Project Lead, Engineering. In this role, you will report to the Director, Engineering and you will play a pivotal role in driving greater agility and accelerating improvements in overall site performance within our manufacturing environment. Your primary responsibility will encompass leadership and management of various projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring seamless project execution. You will be tasked with overseeing site capital projects below a 250K investment threshold, handling complex commercialization projects (e.g., Tasty's, Edible Manufacturing and Packaging), managing intricate maintenance projects (Equipment and Infrastructure), and providing additional support in change management or project management as required.

Project Leadership and Execution
- Lead and manage site capital projects below a 250K investment, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Oversee complex commercialization projects, such as Tasty's from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Manage and coordinate intricate maintenance projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with organizational goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for enhanced operational efficiency and cost reduction.
Change Management and Support
- Provide expertise and support in change management initiatives, facilitating smooth transitions during project implementation.
- Offer project management support where necessary, including resource allocation, risk management, and mitigation strategies.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Generate comprehensive reports highlighting project performance, key milestones, and potential areas for improvement.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant CSA codes and regulations, Building Code standards, and safety protocols throughout all project phases.
- Champion a safety-first culture, promoting adherence to safety guidelines and best practices.
Engineering Analysis and Design
- Conduct thorough engineering analyses to assess project feasibility, risks, and potential impacts on production processes.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop innovative design solutions and optimize existing systems for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, codes, and best practices in all project designs and modifications.
Procurement and Vendor Management
- Oversee the procurement process for project materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluate and select vendors and contractors based on predefined criteria, negotiating contracts and managing relationships to ensure project objectives are met.
Technical Documentation and Standardization
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Promote standardization across projects by documenting best practices, lessons learned, and technical guidelines for future reference.
Resource Allocation and Optimization
- Optimize resource utilization by effectively allocating manpower, equipment, and materials for project execution, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
- Identify opportunities for resource efficiency improvements and cost-saving initiatives throughout project lifecycles.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging engineering expertise to drive innovation and operational excellence.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes.
Training and Knowledge Sharing
- Conduct training sessions or workshops to transfer technical knowledge and best practices to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing among engineering and project teams to enhance collective expertise and problem-solving capabilities.
It would be great if you have…
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience 5 years in project management within a manufacturing environment,
- Strong technical expertise in project planning, execution, and risk management.
- Experience in handling electrical shutdowns and complex commercialization projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Resource Mapping etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and lead cross-functional teams toward common goals.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
