An exciting opportunity is available for a Piping Designer to join our engineering team in Hamilton, ON.
In the role of Piping Designer, you are required to have proven competency with piping and equipment design using theories, engineering principles, and technical knowledge. You are also required to have strong problem solving and design skills that follow all applicable regulations, industry, and company standards.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis of project requirements
- Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
- Define, and redefine as necessary, the scope of work in co-operation with engineers
- Review and comprehend flow sheets and/or design layouts
- Keep Design Lead and Engineers informed of project progress or issues
- Ensure layout conforms to functional requirements
- Prepare specification information for review by engineers
- Assist in the preparation of final drawings in accordance with JNE standards
- Assist in the determination of manufacturing processes for various components
- Assists in the overall planning of the detailing approach
- Assist in the supervising of assigned CAD operators and junior designers
- Provide training and direction to CAD operators and junior designers
- Complete CAD work as required
- Assist in writing specifications necessary to create a complete drawing package
- Assists in the preparation of project timelines and work schedules
- Complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- Assist in providing estimating support to engineers
- Follows all health and safety / personal protective equipment policies, regulations, and legislation
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma required
- College level diploma preferred, or related work experience
- Membership in professional association preferred
- 4+ years relevant working experience
- 3D CAD Experience required
- Intermediate knowledge of Plant 3D, Navisworks
The Following Qualifications and Abilities are an Asset
- Experience with Solid Works and Revit
- Steel Industry Exposure
- Industrial Process Piping Design Experience
