JOB DESCRIPTION
Spin Instructors are accountable for planning, implementing and facilitating safe, effective and motivating Spin Fitness classes.
DUTIES
- Instructs spin classes in accordance with program standards outlined by the Orillia Recreation, Youth and Culture Division and governing bodies within the fitness industry related to the specific program.
- Performs administrative tasks necessary to support the program i.e. take attendance; ensure that all participants sign-in.
- Assists in the evaluation of programs and make program recommendations.
- Works cooperatively and maintains ongoing communication with other staff, participants, members and the general public.
- Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants.
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation.
- Support small group training as it pertains to the group spin instruction portfolio.
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports, opening and closing procedures).
- Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately. Thank you for your application. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
- Ensures that all schedules for programs are followed, including beginning and ending classes on time.
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
- Maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines,
- Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
- Attend meetings/training as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Degree/Diploma in Physical Education/Kinesiology/Recreation preferred.
- Can-Fit-Pro FIS certification or equivalent.
- Specialized certifications for course being taught (ie. CALA if teaching Aqua Fitness).
- Extensive knowledge of exercise prescription/modification and program planning.
- Current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED from an accredited organization.
- Criminal reference with vulnerable sectors check.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Additional certifications considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Previous leadership experience working with children.
- Reliable with a positive, responsible attitude.
- Experience in the following classes considered an asset: Boot Camp, Spinning Classes, Strength & Stretch, Yoga, Zumba, Seniors Fitness, Pilates, Tai Chi, TRX, Small Group Training, Aqua Fitness
- The successful candidates are required to obtain an acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check at their expense, prior to the beginning of employment.
Compensation for this position is $26.90 per hour. Hours per week vary depending on the program and divisional requirements. Applications will be accepted until March 11, 2024, at noon.
