Job description
As a Product Manager within the App Studio team, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading the next generation of cutting-edge tools for Data Scientists. Your contribution will be integral to delivering the next wave of innovative solutions, empowering data exploration, facilitating seamless insight sharing, and enabling the development of interactive data applications. Your work will empower Data Scientists to navigate and uncover valuable insights and help share their learnings with others.
Our current products include Python libraries for building exceptional interactive web applications and data visualizations, low-code development tools and IDEs to aid the software development process, data connectivity features to aid the data science and data pipeline process, and an application deployment platform to easily bring applications into production in enterprise environments. App Studio is joining our product portfolio by introducing a specialized notebook tailored to enhance the workflow of Data Scientists with little Python or development experience. This innovative addition is crafted to cater specifically to the unique needs and challenges faced by Data Scientists, providing them with a powerful tool to amplify their capabilities and efficiency.
As a Product Manager, you will contribute to the full product development lifecycle from market research, ideation, solution shaping, requirement delivery and go to market. You will collaborate with Engineering and our UX design team to deliver value within this new product offering. You will help define our go to market and help to reach product market fit and beyond for App Studio.
Develop and deliver on customers’ needs for App Studio in the near and long term
Help shape the 12-18 month roadmap partnering with the current App Studio team
Create and deliver a clear go to market strategy, partnering with sales, marketing and the rest of the product team
Understand market trends, needs and opportunities and use this to help inform the roadmap
Help research and define the Data Scientist persona and identify their key pain points and opportunity for Plotly to help solve those
Develop your ideas into well-defined product briefs and product requirements that can be pitched to executives and and delivered to an engineering team
Gather customer requirements, design solutions and collaborate with engineering and UX design to deliver product features
Monitor and facilitate the development process from engineering, QA, and technical writing to ensure the delivery of a high quality product
Incorporate feedback from engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, customers, user data, and the broader market to build your product’s roadmap
Collaborate with all teams including customer success, sales, marketing and other engineering teams to launch features and updates
Experience: 7+ years of experience in Product Management or a related role
Creative & rigorous problem solving: Demonstrate creative and rigorous problem-solving skills to generate new product ideas and resolve customer issues through innovative product features. Ability to zoom out and think holistically of the entire product experience while also drilling in and sweating the details.
Business and user value: Inform how App studio can drive revenue growth, business goals and understand user value to help inform marketing and positioning.
Care deeply about user experience: Demonstrate a strong appreciation for user experience (UX) and design aesthetics, prioritizing the creation of visually appealing and intuitive solutions that enhance overall user satisfaction.
Technical acumen: Our products are for developers, data scientists, and system admins. You should possess a hands-on builder mindset and be at ease using our developer-facing products.
Excellent communication skills: Ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proficient in crafting compelling product pitches.
Customer obsessed: You are the voice of our customers and prospects and need to be obsessed with understanding their needs to deliver great product value.
Adaptable: Experienced in small, dynamic companies with occasional ambiguity in processes. Proficient in driving improvements while consistently delivering customer value.
Building products with a product-led growth experience is highly desirable.
B2B and Enterprise product experience is an advantage.
You’ve taken a new product to market and have lessons learned to share
Experience in Data Science or developer/engineering-centric products would be highly desirable.
