Title: GRILL COOK/SERVER
Reports to: Head Chef
Summary of Position:
MINAS is a Brazilian Churrascaria or Steakhouse, we serve authentic Brazilian and Latin foods. We are known by the All-you-care-to-eat concept or Rodizio service. Since 2015 we have provided friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional Brazilian dining experience for all of our guests and we would like someone to join our team to help us continue doing that.
The Grill Cook should accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, stews, and other hot and cold food. Also perform buffet duties and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing cooked items and packing them if required.
- Ensure products complies with MINAS’ quality guidelines.
- Prepare and cook special cuts of beef and other meats according to traditional Brazilian techniques.
- Season, portion, grill and garnish food according to our traditional methods and to guests’ specific requests.
- Prepare catering, to go and delivery orders.
- Present our food to our guest in passador or gaucho style meat in a timely matter.
- Answer guests’ questions concerning “churrasco”-style food.
- Maintain cleanliness of the grill area.
- Complete any beginning or closing shift duties.
- Must be able to fill in where needed to ensure outstanding guest service and efficient operations.
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary grill area, including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, burners, flat-top range, refrigerator, and all other front kitchen equipment.
- Complete Opening and Closing and Dish Washer Duties.
- Must be able to transport objects up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, and work at a quick pace.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays and adjust schedule as required to business needs.
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent communication skills with guests and team.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience in meat preparation and cooking.
- Must have intermediate knowledge of handling sharp utensils.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Mist have superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Must be able to safely lift and easily manoeuvre meat skewers trays frequently weighing up to 50 pounds.
Education: Secondary school graduation.
Must live in Calgary.
Butchery knowledge is an asset.
