The successful candidate will join the Sustainability and Indigenous Procurement team within Hydro One’s Supply Chain. The objective of the group is to help ensure that Hydro One meets its social sustainability commitments towards economic reconciliation with Indigenous businesses and communities as part of the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action. The team also holds accountability for other ESG/Sustainability initiatives in Supply Chain.
Job Description:
- Perform assigned work under the direction of Supply Chain Management to assist in developing, evaluating, and executing Supply Chain procurement, RFx strategy, policies, procedures, and management systems in the context of Indigenous and Sustainable Procurement
- Assist in process execution and maintenance of the Indigenous Procurement Procedure.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in the development and maintenance of Supply Chain policies and procedures including data analysis, interaction with stakeholders, recommendation, documentation, education/training, and implementation.
- Coordinate/execute/track internal and external communications to connect businesses with sourcing opportunities.
- Maintain/update various databases
- Assist in activities related to spend forecasting, budgeting, verification, and reporting.
- Assist in Supplier Performance duties as required.
- Lead by example to minimize supplier risk to the enterprise including reputational, financial and safety.
- Participate in Supply Chain related project type work as initiatives are identified. Depending on the complexity, the individual may be a team member or a leader of the initiative.
- Supervise staff on a limited basis including assigning and checking work. Provide advice, guidance and instruction, as required.
- May involve attending conferences and events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria/Essential Competencies
- Requires undergraduate degree or equivalent business experience (4-6 years) with experience in such fields as Business Administration, Data Management, Marketing and Communications, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Indigenous or Community Relations
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated business acumen and professionalism
- Exceptional written and oral communication and comprehension skills with experience managing sensitive issues in an often highly charged/political environment.
- Ideally has a working knowledge of service and material categories associated with electric utility sector.
- Practical knowledge of commercial practices, procurement policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of various software packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create, modify and review reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Knowledge and experience in SAP to navigate Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Outline Agreements, and reporting
- Ideally has experience working with Ariba sourcing and Contract Management tools
- Ideally a working knowledge of Category Management tools and strategies, as well as knowledge of financial concepts, principles and related disciplines including purchasing, internal control, information management technology associated with the development of business support and evaluation policies and techniques relative to Supply Chain.
