Plasman Global Headquarters is immediately seeking a new member to join our team as:
Advanced Project Buyer
The Advanced Project Buyer is responsible for identifying purchasing requirements and recommending sourcing of suppliers for new model programs from the Estimating phase through to Launch to ensure the objectives of cost quality and delivery are met
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the estimating team in the RFQ process by obtaining quotations, timing, and deliverables for components, outsource tooling, secondary equipment.
- Maintaining a database for standardization and benchmarking for the above items.
- Recommending supplier/price to be used by Estimating in quotation phase and recommending sourcing decision to Source Selection Team at Award Stage.
- Analyzing quotations to understand supplier competitiveness and provide feedback to suppliers and purchasing commodity lead. Preparing award analysis for Source Selection Team and hand off to intended production facility.
- Creating and maintaining a Component Cost Data Management file.
- Participating in the APQP process, supporting the Product Development Teams/Process representing Purchasing supplier deliverables for on time parts, correct price, and correct quality from award to launch.
- Participating in feasibility and design reviews for validation of technical requirements and its impact on component piece price and/or tool cost to ensure successful launch of new products and tools. Initiating drawing requests with Suppliers where applicable for launches.
- Responsible for obtaining quotes and placing discrete orders with selected suppliers for all prototype and pre-production build components.
- Supporting, reviewing, vetting, and set up any customer directed supply sourcing contracts (including but not limited to price, currency, or raw material indexes, FOB points, logistics) with identified suppliers.
- Supporting the creation, review, and implementation of the various commodity sourcing strategies/roadmaps for resin and components.
- Conduct supplier benchmarking activity.
- Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology for various commodities.
- Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO/IATF 16949 (includes ISO 9001) Standards, and company policies and procedures.
- During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures and participate in corrective action activities as necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those who have completed some or all of a college level program.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years' experience in a purchasing or estimating role.
- Experience in a manufacturing automotive environment.
- Proficiency in part geometry/blueprint reading skills with demonstrated ability to understand technical requirements and specifications.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with and understanding of ERP/MRP concepts and systems (TRANS4M)
- Must have computer knowledge in MS Office Package (Excel, Word)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess sound financial and business insights.
- Capable of independent travel within designated regions.
- Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
