Job description
• Assist with farm trials through data collection and organization of notes and photograph logs
• Assist with plant breeding advancement efforts by managing fruit sample collection and shipping for analysis
• Assist with production and forecasting efforts by performing flower and fruit counts for multiple berry types, logging progress photos of plant and fruit development, and capturing plant development records
• Assist in pest and disease scouting and leaf area index monitoring
• Assist food safety department by collecting and shipping fruit for lab analysis prior to harvest
• Assist quality assurance department in field packed fruit
• Responsible for managing activities and communications in collaboration with Production, Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Logistics and Food Safety to accomplish planned growth in the district
• Responsible for weekly reporting of fruit development in the four berry types within the district
• Domestic travel required up to 25%
• Represents Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers, and the business community at large
Requirements
• Be able to work in a research lab, commercial cooler, and an outdoor field environment where temperatures and conditions can be variable, this includes the ability to perform physical work in the field
• Ability to efficiently plan work orders and collaborate with growers
• Ability to communicate and disseminate information in a timely manner
• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Have flexibility in working hours, especially during the fruiting season. Some days may start as early as 5:30 AM
• Proficiency in English is a must
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs
• A valid Canadian driver’s license and the ability to drive up to 1 hour away from primary location
• Have reliable transportation to multiple work sites
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite Well organized
• Self-starter mentality with great observational skills
Preferred Qualifications & Leadership Competencies
• Experience with scientific method and experimental design to ensure comprehensive data collection and consistency
• On-farm experience a plus
• Bi-lingual (Punjabi) a plus but not required
• The candidate should demonstrate a strong desire to become a contributing member of the Driscolls organization and commitment to ensuring success of our growers and company, while remaining aligned with our consumers desires

Compensation
The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors. The hourly range estimated for this internship is: Freshman to recent grad (Bachelor's level within 6 months of graduation): C$17-$23
