Finance Clerk


The Finance Clerk  contributes to the overall success of the organization by assisting the Controller with the financial responsibilities. Working in collaboration with and reporting to the Controller, the Finance Clerk performs a wide range of financial and related duties.

This is a onsite position based in Truro, Nova Scotia

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience

Full medical and dental benefits after 3 months 

Two weeks vacation 

Monday-Friday 8am-430pm

Key Accountabilities
•    Prepare journal entries, Payroll
•    Assist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
•    Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
•    Prepare analysis of accounts as requested
•    Cost accounting analysis
•    Assist with year end closings
•    Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
•    Account/bank reconciliations
•    Review and process expense reports
•    Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
•    Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
•    Prepare ad hoc analyses as requested by the controller
•    Other projects and duties as operationally required

Experience and Education
•    Diploma in office admin, Finance or Accounting with 3 years relevant experience in finance and payroll
•    Proficiency in relevant accounting software (Sage)
Competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities)
•    Competence in a computerized environment and the use of Microsoft Office applications
•    Well organized, analytical and accurate, with the ability to multitask
•    Strong team player with the ability to conduct work with confidentiality and professionalism
•    Self-starter with the ability to identify problems and then develop and implement solutions
•    Ability to communicate (verbal and written) efficiently and professionally with all levels of staff
