Shifts Available and Hours: 

Day Shift Monday - Friday

7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Job Summary: This position reports directly to the Assistant Production Manager. The Mold Engineer Tech is responsible for maintaining the Wagstaff AirSlip Billet Casting Systems to ensure each system is ready to operate safely & efficiently.

Required Education/Experience :

• Bachelor Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Wagstaff Training Course / 5 Day. Completion of the Wagstaff 5-day training course
• Minimum 5 years of related direct chill casting experience or equivalent

Preferred Skills/Qualifications :

• Good analytical and mathematical skills
• Interpersonal Skills Required: team player, organized, self-starter, adaptable to change, results oriented and able to work with limited supervision. Willing to accept changes in operating procedures
• Forklift and Crane certified
• Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, changing production environment while adhering to the highest standards of excellence
• Operative communication skills both verbal & written
• Proficient in Microsoft office; excel, word, power point
• Excellent Safety and Attendance record required
• Ability to perform physical requirements. Lift up to 50 lbs, work long hours in high temp environment
• Certification in a Skilled trade an asset
• Previous experience as a technician or skilled trade (preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

• Operation of Billet production equipment and auxiliary items
• Prepare casting table for proper size, alloy and length of logs and control start-up and ongoing monitoring of the casting operation
• Repair Wagstaff molds & maintain tables for cast units
• Repair and maintain bottoms for cast units
• Repair and rebuild trough sections, filter bowels
• Ensure proper Gas Flow and upkeep of autoflow control systems
• Gather parts for rebuilding of air slip molds and tables, change carbon rings and “T” plates out of air slip molds. Inspect and repair damaged stool bases and caps
• Fabricate miscellaneous tools
• Work closely with vendors (Wagstaff, Selee, Pyrotech, RMG, Etc.) 
• Planning of all workflows, using MVP, SAP, APICS & other stocking tools
• Work with all suppliers to ensure quality of supply and oversee accuracy of receiving related to these vendors
• Review all customer orders and determine tooling readiness into production
• Monitor inventory levels at all stock locations
• Assure Material Replenishment and maintain correct levels
