Job Summary: The Communications Co-Ordinator is responsible for the development of consistent IT communication through various channels, managing social media platforms and documenting internal processes. The position will also assist with the co-ordination of special projects working with project team members to gather requirements, assist in developing project plans and executing the scope of work.

Nature of work:

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

• Formulate and execute an IT communication plan for a variety of events and special projects throughout the year.
• Manage consistent IT messaging through various channels (ie. flyers/posters, digital signage, Ontario Tech and IT websites, Weekly Report and social media).
• Manage, create content and update website information including the annual rollover of academic hardware and software requirements.
• Oversee website quality assurance including brand, style guidelines and accessibility standards.
• Examine data analytics for website and social media platforms, determine effectiveness and alter strategy and content as required.
• Coordinate and participate in events by identifying and executing on requirements (including time frame schedules, attendance coverage, location, resources needed).
• Create and conduct presentations for projects, IT events and other activities.
• Create content and record voice over for step by step instruction videos.
• Develop training and job aid materials as required.
• Coordinate with other departments such as Communication & Marketing, Registrar's Office, Media Services and IT Service Desk as required.
• Assist with the co-ordination of IT projects.
• Schedule and chair periodic stakeholder meetings, provide updates and report to team members and management.
• Create new or update current processes as determined by team members and/or management.

Required Skills:

• Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to be creative and write in a variety of styles (ie. newsletter, promotional, human interest, etc).
• Exceptional knowledge of various communication platforms, best practices, changing trends and analytics.
• Knowledge of project management processes.
• Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities to handle high workload during peak periods.
• Exceptional initiative and ability to work independently with minimal direction while working in a collaborative team environment.
• High level of organizational, analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.

Required Education:

Completion of formal post secondary program of three academic years.

• Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

• Minimum of three years project management and communications experience.
• Proficiency in developing content for website and social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram) using various software applications.
• Successful incumbent must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekend to participate and oversee events (ie Open House).
