The Opportunity

 

The Infrastructure Department is comprised of five Branches, including three Design and Construction Branches, the Wastewater Operations Branch, and the Water Operations Branch. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City's infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc.

 

Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Operational Technology, the Utility SCADA Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the City's environmental technology controls infrastructure and systems. Specifically, this position administers, developments, and implements wastewater controls works by providing design specifications, programming, commissioning, training, and troubleshooting support to Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure maximum availability to the automatic operation and monitoring of the Wastewater Facility, Pumping Stations, and Remote Treatment Systems. This position is key to ensuring that capital upgrades are successfully designed, constructed, and implemented.


The City of Barrie Wastewater Operations Branch (WWOB) is responsible for the proper and efficient operation and maintenance of all wastewater collections and treatment facilities servicing the citizens of Barrie, the largest being a 76 Megalitre per day, Class IV Wastewater Treatment Facility (WwTF). The WWOB ensures that all works are performed in accordance with associated legislation including, and all associated Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) and Certificates of Approval (CofA).

Location: City of Barrie Wastewater Treatment Faciltiy, 249 Bradford Street, Barrie, Ontario

 

Hours: The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week; however, some non-standard hours may apply.

 

Wage: This is a permanent full-time non-union position with the following pay level and 2024 pay range:
