Job description

We are in search for a talented Drafting and Release Manager to join the growing team of our client in the Greater Toronto Area. Our Client is a leading door and window walls supplier specializing in manufacturing window/curtain walls, interior screens, and canopies.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for successful project delivery of 25+ projects/year in different stages, from pre-drafting coordination and planning to client submissions & approvals, material take-
offs, material procurement, fabrication drawings and site support during installation. Your role will be focused on team leadership, scheduling & planning, and operational
excellence.

- Team Leadership: Provide 1 on 1 support and motivation to all team members, build team comradery, promote alignment, autonomy, and transparency.
- Performance Management: Continuously monitor team performance as well as individual members, investigate root cause whenever performance is lacking, and develop a
performance improvement plan when needed.
- Hiring: Responsible for interviewing and hiring new team members whenever required by capacity planning.
- Development Plans: Responsible for exploring career trajectory with all team members, to ensure alignment of their tasks and career goals, and track trajectory progress.

Technical:
- Review project documents through different phases including shop drawing internal reviews, returned submission drawings, material take-offs, fabrication drawings.
- Provide design assistance to all team members whenever required for non-typical details.
- Review typical detail libraries and ensure they adhere to design and standards.

Scheduling:
- Provide a short-term summary of team weekly tasks and ensure clarity on team deliverables.
- Provide weekly department schedule updates, including ongoing project progress tracking and any pending tasks and their dependencies.
- Track project performance including KPIs such as baseline vs. actual project hours and project milestone dates.

Process Development and Documentation:
- Continuously evaluate current processes and identify bottlenecks and address them by revising the process after collaborating with internal stakeholders affected.
- Prioritize process documentation and generating SOPs (standard operating procedures) to ensure visibility and alignment of team procedures and standards.

Collaboration:
- Participate & lead meetings with internal teams as well as with other internal stakeholders.
- Act as liaison between drafting & release departments and internal consultants such as engineering, BE, PMs and site whenever required.

Health and Safety (Mandatory):
- Participates in the safety culture as the company number 1 priority.

Qualifications
- Team leader focused on promoting a team culture of respect, collaboration, transparency, innovation, result driven performance and accountability.
- 3+ years in a drafting leadership position, focused on Curtain Wall or Window Wall drafting.
- Curtain / Window wall + window / glazing, architectural, structural, BIM management
- 5+ years of experience in drafting, Strong 2D AutoCAD skills.
- 1-2 years of experience in Revit is a strong asset.
- Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and meet project deadlines.
- Detail oriented with high quality standards and work ownership.
- Effective communicator verbally and in written form
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Strong Technical skills
- Team player and mentor
