Job description

The Opportunity

Grande Prairie is looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team for PlayCare Service and Recreation Programs at the Eastlink Centre. As a Program Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate programming for children aged 0 - 5 in a warm, welcoming, play-based setting, as well as children aged 6 - 12 in a fun, active, play-based setting. You will be a part of an energetic team devoted to the social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and relative development of children. You will ensure the safety of the participants while providing high-quality care and supervision. Our Program Instructors will demonstrate leadership and a positive approach to play and play-based learning on a daily basis.

Facilitates the delivery of a program; supervises and cares for the safety of infants and children; plans, organizes and hosts children's birthday parties

Primary Focus: Our Program Instructors will demonstrate leadership and a positive approach to play and play-based learning on a daily basis. Successful candidates will help to expose children to a variety of activities including cooking, athletics, arts, and more. They must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends and have prior experience planning programs for children aged 0 -12.


Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, promotion, delivery and evaluation of a variety of programs for children between the ages of 0 -12 years. These program plans will incorporate all fundamentals of play and must be developmentally and age appropriate. You will be responsible for the supervision and safety of the program's participants, often including opening and closing facilities. In addition, you will be responsible for the cleanliness of your program site, set up and take down of the program. You will have the opportunity to participate in training and assist with special events as scheduled by your Supervisor and Coordinator.


You Bring

The successful candidate must be a minimum of 16 years of age and possess the following:


Hours

4-10 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 8 p.m. Mondays - Sundays.

Compensation

As per CUPE Collective Agreement Program Instructor II $19.67/hour.
