Jacobs has an exciting opportunity for an Area Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Western Canada. In this position, you will be responsible for providing Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) leadership to the Federal and Environmental Solutions (F&ES) group within Western Canada focusing on building a positive culture, HSE program implementation, regulatory compliance, and support to projects and offices within the Western Canada portfolio. Providing active leadership and integrates into project teams on major projects. You’ll also established and maintain positive client relationships to support business operations.

Ideally based in Western Canada with proximity to the Vancouver or Calgary offices, this position provides the ability to work in a flexible work environment at home, in the office, and at project locations as required to manage the portfolio. Consideration will be given to other work locations in Canada. In this position you’ll be responsible for BeyondZero implementation within the F&ES group including projects and offices in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories) with back up support to other areas in Canada as required. Serves as an integrated business partner to the Western Canada Leadership Team with implementation of the Canada Strategic Plan and Objectives. Establishes working relationships and provides visible support and leadership to staff and stakeholders by providing interpretation, training, technical review and support, regulatory guidance, and governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Jacobs HSE program. Supports external Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification process in Alberta. Provides COR audit support to other jurisdictions as deemed necessary.

Where appropriate, you’ll provide input into HSE procedure development for implementation specific to Canadian needs and regulatory requirements. Implementation and monitoring of the HSE training program ensuring HSE training requirements are met. Leading incident notification, investigation, and reporting process. Facilitates injury management and return to work process. Contributes to Canadian HSE communications and disseminates information within Western Canada. Developing and implementing project HSE plans, hazard assessments, and participates as required in operational readiness reviews prior to project work. Support office safety programs including office HSE plans, emergency response plans, and Joint Health and Safety/Beyond Zero committees. Provides proposal support and governance/approvals of high risk/restricted HSE tasks. Conducts HSE prequalification reviews of subcontractors/subconsultants and HSE project audits.

There will be some travel required to be successful in this role including visiting remote field project sites for audits, inspections, and team coaching.

The base salary range for this position is $89,600 to $117,675. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Relevant Health & Safety and/or equivalent diploma/degree.

• COR Auditor qualification or demonstrated practical experience strongly preferred.

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience including managing areas with multiple offices and a portfolio of projects.

• OHS professional designation (i.e. CRSP, IH, CSP, CIH, etc) strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems.

• Knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation.

• Demonstrated experience leading HSE in Western Canada under provincial occupational health and safety requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, Teams, etc).

• Willing and able to travel within Canada, and to the United States for select opportunities

• Skills in supporting stakeholder groups and teams within areas of responsibility such as communicating with executive management to graduates

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Experience with HSE on project involving contaminated sites

• Experience leading HSE on operations leadership teams

• Data gathering and statistical trend analysis.

• Knowledgeable with Intelex management system platform

• Experience in Energy and Mining industries

• Experience in HSE field as a consultant
