Description:

Recognized throughout Renfrew County as a leader in child and youth mental health, the Phoenix Centre for Children and Families provides innovative treatment programs and services for children, youth, and families experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges. As a registered charity and not-for-profit agency, Phoenix has been in operation for over 45 years and is funded by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

Our mission is to improve the lives of children, youth, and their families through the provision of mental health services based on clinical excellence, collaboration, partnerships, and system leadership. Appointed by the Ontario government as the lead agency for child-youth mental health (CYMH) in Renfrew County, Phoenix is also accountable for community-wide child and youth mental health system planning in collaboration with local, regional, and provincial stakeholders.

We invite you to join the Phoenix Centre leadership team as the Director of Services. This is a This is a French-English bilingual, full-time position.

Position Summary

The Director of Services has extensive clinical knowledge and experience within the child youth and mental health treatment sector. We are seeking an experienced leader who has a demonstrated ability to implement change and engage others in our commitment to service excellence and quality improvement.

The Director of Services is accountable for overall leadership of our child and youth mental health and youth justice services, ensuring the effective delivery of quality client services. The Director is a contributing member of the senior leadership team which sets overall strategic direction and provides leadership across the agency. The Director leads in alignment with the agency’s mission, vision, values and lean leadership model.

Qualifications

Education:

• MSW degree from an accredited university program in social work and a registered member in good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or
• MA degree from a recognized university program in counselling, psychology or psychotherapy and registered member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or a member of one of the regulatory colleges entitled to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy.

Technical Knowledge:

• Experience with LEADS framework, change management, performance management, project management, compliance, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.
• Experience using client and human resources information systems.
• Knowledge and experience in anti-oppressive practices related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Advanced software skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with a willingness to contribute and lead in the culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events for clients and their families, caregivers, colleagues, and other community members.
• Demonstrates professionalism in dealing with highly confidential information and situations.

Leadership:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience, including senior leadership experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of direct clinical and client service experience in the child and youth mental health sector.
• Strategic planning experience in a complex healthcare environment.
• Experience in program operations, planning, design, and evaluation including evidence-based decision-making and data quality/data management.
• Experience in human resource management, fiscal accountability, and client information management.
• History of working productively and collaboratively with local, regional, and provincial stakeholders within the community child and youth mental health sector.
• Must have excellent communication skills including excellent consensus building with teams, people skills, and be proficient in making presentations and professional business writing.
• Highly adaptive, resilient, and a champion of change.
• Remain current with the latest thinking to promote and model an organizational culture that fosters collaboration, courage, and transparency in response to the emerging needs of our clients, youth and families.

Successful applicants will be required to provide:

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
• A valid Ontario driver’s licence and use of a reliable motor vehicle and insurability on an agency vehicle insurance policy
• Clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector search
