Job description

Reporting to the Managing Director, The Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible to define and implement a procurement vision & strategy across Liebherr Canada.  Additionally, This critical role will lead and develop an operations focused team that will build value-driven partnerships focusing on cost-effectiveness, reliability and risk management.  The Director of Strategic Sourcing will implement structured negotiation processes, reporting & KPIs while ensuring alignment to corporate governance, transparency, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward-thinking procurement strategy tailored to the unique needs of the Heavy Equipment Industry and the growth of Liebherr Canada
• Drive the long term vision of establishing a mature and effective procurement division within the company
• Lead change management initiatives, understand and navigate the company's gradual progression towards strategic procurement
• Demonstrate resilience and patience while working through layers of organizational change
• Be willing to operate at lower levels and engage in hands-on procurement activities, including some tactical tasks, to demonstrate the value of strategic procurement
• Actively contribute to the groundwork necessary for eventual strategic advancements
• Warehouse & Inventory optimization, collaborate on warehouse operations specific to heavy equipment components and suggest areas to optimize inventory management processes
• Develop solutions for obsolete inventory and implement efficient disposal strategies
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies within the procurement function
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements throughout the supply chain
• Utilize Information Systems and best practices to be able to report tangible data drive outcomes
• Over-all optimization of logistics processes, utilize expertise in shipping and freight management and provide company advancements in processes, considering the unique challenges of transporting heavy equipment/parts/service vehicles
• Leverage experience with SAP/ERP systems to streamline procurement processes and enhance data visibility where possible

Competencies

• 10+ years proven senior level leadership in procurement and/or strategic sourcing within the Heavy Equipment/Construction industry is required

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field highly preferred, working equivalent will be considered
• Demonstrated high level success and experience in managing change and implementing strategic initiatives in organizations with slow progress.
• Demonstrated patience and adaptability to navigate through organizational layers and drive cultural change.
• In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment/construction operations/ processes, and supplier relationships considered a strong asset
• Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems is highly advantageous
• Relevant certifications in procurement and supply chain management

• Abilitiy to travel - National/International travel may be required occassionally
