Job Description
As a Computer Graphics Specialist in our international Strategic Communications and Marketing team, you will play a key role in supporting the design of visually stunning and immersive graphics for a variety of digital applications. As an emerging talent with a fresh perspective and demonstrated experience in 3D animation and video editing, you will learn from and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and marketers to bring ideas to life through innovative and high-quality graphics and videos.
Graphic Design
This is what most of your days will look like. Spoiler alert: no two days will be the same in our dynamic team.
- Design and prepare a wide variety of digital, and on occasion, print media (text, graphics, sound and animation) – which may include traditional applications and products – in support of Company activities
- Create 2D and 3D assets, including illustrations and renders, animations, videos and others, using industry standard 3D graphics and video/audio editing tools for electronic distribution (e.g. webpages)
- Develop interactive applications for touchscreens, leveraging industry-standard website software
- Test new imaging/graphics software to determine suitability
On occasion, you may be asked to:
- Coordinate outside suppliers including 3D model file sourcing, in-house graphics, printing, photography, and videography, visual and trade show projects
- Design graphics and assembles trade show exhibits; prepare equipment mock-ups for shows
- Retouch or enhance photos and may use recording equipment to take photos/videos as required
- Prepare electronic images, designs and page layouts; integrate output to produce desired results.
- May produce and print artwork for product ID plates, and act as a backup for final production of ID plates
Collaboration and Development
- Identify customer requirements and apply the most appropriate cost effective and viable processes/solutions to prepare storyboards and final assets
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project goals, and contribute to creative discussions
- Research new technology and best practices
- Assist Team Lead with preparation of project estimates; guides and assists junior team members; and performs other related duties as required
- Learn from others and experiment with emerging technology
Quality Assurance
- Follow company graphic standards/brand guidelines, ensuring quality and consistency of graphics across different platforms. Conduct testing and optimization to ensure graphic performance.
- Apply the appropriate specification and standards to illustrations and graphic designs.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in graphic design, illustration, computer science, or other related discipline
- Approximately 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent level of combined education and experience
- Familiarity with HTML 5
Additional Qualifications
- Proven experience in computer graphics, 2D/3D design, and video
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and video editing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, Maya, Unity)
- Practice in website design using editing tools (e.g. Webflow, Squarespace, Wordpress)
- Fundamental skills in photography and videography
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of graphic design and animation projects
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
