POSITION VACANCY

Call Number: 2024-28 Position: Labourer & Maintenance Students Type of Vacancy: Summer Student - CUPE May to August 2024 Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays with possible weekend shifts
(hours may vary depending on work location) 40 hours per week Hourly Rate: $18.41 per hour Posting Date: February 21, 2024 Closing Date: March 22, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

The City of Niagara Falls is looking for labourer and maintenance summer students to join our team. We require positive and energetic individuals to help with the maintenance and up keep of the City’s Parks, Roadways, Cemeteries, Fleet and Facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Grass cutting, weeding and trimming
• Basic gardening
• Janitorial work
• Litter and leaf pick up
• Painting and work-site cleanup
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Safe operation and maintenance of handheld tools and grounds maintenance equipment (i.e. utility vehicles, trimmers, mowers, hand tools, etc.)

• Enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the semester preceding the upcoming summer and returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the following September (proof of enrolment required)
• Appropriate work/protective clothing and CSA-approved safety footwear is required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical ability to lift, work outdoors and operate various landscaping/gardening equipment
• Experience in landscaping, grass cutting or horticulture
• Available to work all shifts as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays from early May to the end of August
• A valid ‘G’ class Ontario Driver=s license would be considered an asset
