Job description

Division: Community Services Department: Parks Term: 1 Permanent Full Time position available Closing Date: 02/23/2024 Labour Group: CUPE 59 Posting: 3006 Job Summary Under supervision of the Urban Forestry Supervisor, this position performs a variety of tasks related to tree maintenance Duties & Responsibilities 1. Prunes and removes trees, in accordance with Department and industry standards, from the ground and by using an aerial lift or tree-climbing techniques
2. Performs a variety of arboricultural practices, including tree health assessment and hazard evaluation
3. Operates, maintains and performs minor repairs to a variety of arboricultural equipment, including a brush chipper, stump-cutter, articulating boom, skid steer and front end loader
4. Assists with the supervision of seasonal staff
5. Provides information to, and responds to enquiries from, the public regarding tree-related concerns
6. Maintains records related to the operation of the program, Tree Manager system, work order system and related inventories
7. Ensures adherence to safety policies, work procedures, Departmental policies and related legislation
8. Participates in public education and awareness programs related to tree care
9. Participates in work-related safety training programs and staff training and development programs
10. Assists with the development of short- and long-range planning for the maintenance of trees
11. Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities
12. Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures
13. Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Weekly Hours: 40 Salary Range: $27.22 to $30.01 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
