Job Description:
Are you a results driven Controller ready to take on your next opportunity? Our partnered client is currently looking for a Controller who can make process change and implement new best practises! Reporting into the CFO the successful candidate will hold their CPA designation and ideally have worked in a start up finance team with proven success in implementation and mentoring of staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, revise and implement process, policies and best practises
- Mentor current staff of 5 and create succession planning where necessary
- Proactive approach to setting expectations within Finance team
- Able to manage reports and present findings to executives
- Experience with internal auditing of finance data and manipulation of data to conclude opportunities
- Develop employee objections for AP & AR roles & Development of Accounting team lead
- Oversee all accounting-relating activities and cycle, including accounts receivables/payables
- Monitor the companies current financial direction, policies, accounting practices, as well as relationships with lending institutions and the financial community
- Maintain general ledger and entries; perform reconciliations
- Develop, maintain, manage and analyze financial statements, budgets, tax compliance issues
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
- Lead cash management analysis
- Standardize financial documentation and processes
- Prepare trial balances
- Supervise and champion general accounting, property accounting, cost accounting and internal auditing
Skills and Qualifications:
- CPA Designation is required
- Able to work onsite in the companies Mississauga office
- Proven track record in managing the finance/accounting operation, including:
- five (5) years proven experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager; Supply Chain and/or warehousing experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- Strong, professional communication skills (verbally and written)
- Proven track record in right-sizing a finance department
- Operational mindset and understand of Finance and how it relates to overall operations
- Experience leading employees within the finance area
- Strong attention to detail, organized and strategic
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Sound understanding of audit process methodology
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated and driven with a passion for excellence in a fast-paced environment
