Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Apprentice AME is a mechanic who is in the process of obtaining the training, knowledge, experience and skill required to obtain an AME M2 rated license. The Apprentice AME works under the direct supervision of an ACA to maintain Air North, Yukon’s Airline aircraft in a safe and effective manner including: servicing, inspecting, repairing and monitoring of aircraft to ensure airworthiness standards are met. Tasks performed satisfactorily while under direct supervision of qualified staff are eligible to be entered into the apprentice’s maintenance log book for the purpose of meeting the Transport Canada criteria for acquisition of an AME M2 rated license.

Duties and Responsibilities Under ACA Supervision:

• Accomplish aircraft maintenance tasks (on the job training) under direct supervision of an ACA
• Conduct maintenance, repairs, and modifications to aircraft using approved tools, materials and manuals
• Troubleshoot and rectify aircraft system defects
• Ensure the Company’s safety standards are adhered to at all times
• Ensure work accomplished is correctly documented and recorded
• Verify parts installed onto the aircraft are properly certified, prior to installation
• Ensure the Company’s hanger facilities, tooling and equipment are maintained to industry standards
• Understand and comply with all regulatory requirements and Company policies, manuals, and documentation requirements in accordance with Airworthiness Certification Authority
• Liaise with Stores on parts needed, used, and accounted for
• Complete training courses and attend programs as required
• Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager or ACA

Qualifications/Conditions of Employment:

• Required to maintain a valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
• Required to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
• Required to maintain a valid Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit for ENWIA
• Required to maintain a valid Restricted Operator’s Certificate - Aeronautical
• Be physically fit (able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, work in a pressurized environment)
• Valid Basic Training from a Transport Canada Accredited Program is an asset
• Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or show proof of right to work in Canada
