Salary:
Classification 11, $50,569.86 - 52,133.88 annually as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation (119 hours) is pro-rated, and front loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits (eligible after 6 months of work), as well as time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1) of each year is paid time off. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory for all regular, full-time staff with contributions matched by the Employer.
Description:
Northern Lights College is seeking a skilled Corporate Communications Specialist who can create written materials and edit while adhering to brand and editorial guidelines. The ideal candidate will have experience with a camera to take photos that will complement written work.
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Corporate Communications Specialist plans, creates, and implements communications for internal and external audiences using both traditional and emerging modes of communication. Working closely with subject matter experts and senior leaders, this position creates messaging that is timely, relevant, and transparent for internal and external audiences. With a focus on corporate communication channels, this position oversees the vision, content, maintenance, improvements, and support of the college's public-facing websites and intranet.
Within the scope of the job, there will be specific duties surrounding the need to follow brand guidelines, research, write, proofread, and edit clear and compelling content in a variety of digital and traditional formats. These mediums would include signage, presentations, brochures, newsletters, viewbooks, student handbooks, press releases, employee communications, reports, advertising, and web copy, to support strategic priorities, operational goals, and overall portfolio initiatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of two years experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to write for various audiences, settings, and tones and across multiple platforms. A keen eye for detail, grammar, and consistency. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as WordPress or other content management systems, MailChimp or other email marketing platforms. As an internal posting, must be a current Northern Lights College Support employee who has met probation.
