NB Power is currently seeking a Fuels Contract Administrator to join their Fuels team. As part of this valued team, you will be responsible for ensuring fuel and fuel delivery services are provided at the lowest competitive cost, delivered on time and within specification, in accordance with contract terms.
Key functions include:
• FUEL ADMINISTRATION: Administration of various fuel supply contracts, services contracts, quality inspection contracts, price adjustments, quality adjustments, invoices, and demurrage associated with delivery of fuel, interface with external agencies, suppliers and plant operations personnel on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to meet each plants fueling and inventory requirements, evaluate and recommend fuel supply and service requirements for NBP generating stations.
• FINANCIAL: Prepare inputs to the annual fuel budget and quarterly forecast, provide support to Finance team during month end inventory reconciliation, do calculations and settlement of demurrage claims, identify cost exposure and risk associated with the discharge of ships cargoes.
• REPORTING: Provide statistics related to all aspects of fuel, monitor daily fuel price information and oversee the month end financial reporting activity from all generating stations. Support Fuels Manager and Business Analyst in preparing monthly variance analysis commentary.
• ANALYSIS: Provide ad-hoc analytical support to Fuels Manager and other internal stakeholders as required.
The ideal teammate will have:
One of the following:
• Bachelor of Business Administration
• Bachelor of Economics
• Bachelor of Finance
• Bachelor of Commerce
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
In addition to:
• Six years of relevant experience within the finance/engineering/purchasing/tendering supplemented with strong knowledge of energy market fundamentals, finance and understanding micro & macro economics)
Currently enrolled in or working towards one of the following would be considered an asset:
• Master’s degree
• CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant)
• CFA (chartered Financial Analyst)
• P.Eng
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
