Job purpose
The Continuous Improvement Manager is accountable to manage and lead Operational Excellence projects. This takes the form of leading and supporting ongoing operations improvements and activities, as well as supporting ongoing business, capital and regulatory items in any production related area of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Manage and leads varied production operational engineering assignments and continuous improvement projects from inception, planning, implementation, and turnover which may involve the interaction with multiple stakeholders.
- In conjunction with Maintenance and Engineering to provide ongoing technical support in any operational production process area as required.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of equipment and process in order to minimize downtime, turnaround time and waste reduction while maintaining the highest standard of quality.
- Organize, implement and maintain production process flow to maximize KPI and minimize space usage.
- Utilize statistical tools to characterize processes for operational excellence.
- Apply LEAN methodology (i.e. 5S, A3, Gemba, Kaizen, PDCA, SMED, VSM, etc.) to all related projects/activities when appropriate for operational excellence.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/business and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation.
- Drive value stream mapping to define “As-Is Analysis” and the transition to Future State.
- Debug tooling and capital equipment as it relates to process improvements.
- Collect and log data.
- Require working “Independently” as well as in a “Team” environment.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow G ood M anufacturing P ractices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering/Engineering Science degree is a requirement (Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum 5+ years of related engineering experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, food/beverage or consumer packaging.
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, problem solver, team player and self-motivated.
- Strong leadership skills, experience working in manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change.
- Previous exposure to a high-volume high SKU environment.
- Ability to work with and influence others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
