Job Description
Responsibilities
- Under occasional supervision and on own initiative, provides support services for line and or functional teams. Performs moderately complex duties requiring knowledge of subject matter and full understanding of department practices.
- Primary duty is to execute preparation, deployment, setup, harvesting and destruction of IT assets. Responsible for assigned service requests including request discernment, trouble-shooting/solutioning and resolution and other related duties as required.
- Assistance on Information Systems administration and end-point management/maintenance, SW deployment, harvesting and management, remediation of security issues, categorization of service requests and queue management may be required. Asset management system, Service desk script, policy and protocol support/maintenance/creation may be required.
Initiative and Accountability
- Expected to take initiative on primary duties and when idle seek opportunities to alleviate workload on other members of the Team and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Identifies and reports on issues impacting their assigned tasks when they occur.
- Makes operational decisions/exercises independent judgment within generally defined parameters. Alters approach or recommends procedural changes to accomplish desired results. Seeks consultation or guidance as needed.
- Accountable for quality of own work as well as support and guidance to other members of the Team.
- Exercises judgment through interpretation and application of experience. Problems are diversified and require analysis or evaluation of data.
Communication and Guidance Giving
- Probes and listens carefully, presents information clearly and in appropriate style, persuades others in straightforward situations.
- Works under general supervision and receives guidance from others when sought. Output is trusted as accurate and generally sound. Output may be reviewed for soundness and judgment, and if required, feedback is provided to support continued learning. May assist junior staff in most situations.
- Builds internal and external relationships, to facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers, management and internal service providers.

Qualifications
- College Diploma and 3-6 years desktop IT support experience required. A professional designation is an asset.
- 2 years minimum experience with Information Systems administration, 2 years minimum experience with end-point management technologies including encryption, anti-virus, patching, Wireless, remote access and introspection.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot a wide range of end-point software and hardware.
- Ability to recommend Hardware and Software to solve issues and break fix issues. This may include ordering and receiving. Interfaces with other departments to troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to provide input and recommendation on architectural changes.
- Considered fully qualified. Applies learned skills and knowledge to most tasks associated with the job family. Completes diverse, moderately complex assignments within defined policy and according to objectives.

- Bilingual - English and French is considered and asset for this role.
Additional Information
This is a full-time on-site role.
Physical Effort
- Movement amongst workstation equipment to complete work. Repetitive hand movement (PC use) is required for continuous periods of time. Periodic lifting of low weight items with limited lifting of items with considerable weight. Continuous movement to internal customers within home GD Canada campus, may be required.
Sensory Effort
- Moderate degree of visual concentration for periods of time required in testing or troubleshooting of software and hardware as well as reading of polices, protocol, work instructions, knowledge bases, scripts and other documents.
Working Environment
- Work may be performed at his or her workstation for extended periods of time. He or she must approach each request with enthusiasm, care and ‘customer’ attitude as some support requestors may be aggravated due to their technical difficulties. Must be able to take criticism with stride and move the support process along.
Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.
