Primary Function
We are currently recruiting students who have been in full time attendance at an educational institution in the preceding scholastic year, and who are enrolled in a full-time program for the coming year, for summer employment. Employment will be available from approximately May to August 2024 and will be located at various facilities throughout HRM. Previous experience in landscaping, loading and unloading equipment and/or painting would be considered an asset. As a Labourer (Summer Student) you will primarily perform general labour work associated with the operation of the Utility in a safe, efficient manner, such as:

Education and Experience
Applicants must include a cover letter, resume and documentation from the educational institution confirming registration and acceptance for the upcoming year. Returning students will be limited to a maximum of three (3) summers in order to allow the same opportunity to other potential candidates.
Other Requirements
As part of the conditional offer process, candidates will be subject to a satisfactory background check and satisfactory pre-employment testing. Satisfactory reference checks, confirmation of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstracts are a requirement for chosen applicants.
