Job description
Our client in the manufacturing industry in Hamilton ON is looking for a Buyer to join their growing team.
The Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services in a timely and cost-effective way and in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. Also, will make sure materials are delivered quickly by collaborating and communicating with vendors on the status of critical orders, trying to avoid problems and delays. Help in creating and implementing logistic strategies to enhance service, transit times and cost performance.

Responsibilities
Evaluate, report, and suggest the best options for international logistical freight services.
Ensure adherence to International Customs documentation and procedural standards.
Help in creating and implementing logistic strategies to enhance service, transit times and cost performance.
Source materials and request RFQ’s from suppliers for material and services needs.
Create purchase orders, process changes to terms and conditions of purchase contracts.
Monitor supplier performance, conduct commercial analysis on suppliers to improve processes and solutions in terms of efficiency and cost.
Initial preparation and issuance of Request for Quotations (RFQs) for various commodities.
Qualifications
Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P) designation is an asset.
Supply Chain Management Professional Designation (SCMP) is an asset.
Five years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing setting.
Familiar with purchasing, warehousing, and inventory control policies and procedures.
Familiar with supply chain management.
Ability to make smart buying decisions.
Ability to comprehend freight and transportation costs and issues.
Ability to comprehend Accounts Payable (A/P) to Purchase Order (PO) reconciliation.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 and/or AS 9100 environment.
