Job description

 

Purpose: This position to support DC operations as an expert user to help ensure the accuracy of the Distribution Center inventory by using proper business processes and controls to resolve inventory discrepancies through detailed analysis and monitoring of transactional data within the host enterprise resource planning system (ERP) and DC warehouse management system (WMS). This will include prompt and proper resolution of all interface / data alignment errors. This individual will use this expertise to propose improvements to DC planning and processes where appropriate. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Serve as the local expert and general resource for DC Operations staff to answer questions and share system’s knowledge 

Daily analysis, research and correction of complex issues as well as developing solutions in coordination with the impacted departments

Assist in the monitoring of any interfaces for systems impacting transactions that are not supported by a Global Tech resource; specifically, monitoring of SAP inbound interfaces which include but are not limited to the following: Master Data / Inbound P.O.’s / Goods Receipt / Delivery Notes / Goods Issue / Stock Adjustments / Inventory Reconciliation / Returns

Research, analysis and processing of Pending/Failed transactions 

Assist the Inventory Control Coordinators to resolve variances by performing research in WMS and the ERP, conduct investigations relative to short / over product, performing root cause analysis to maintain inventory integrity 

Review and analyse available variance reporting as needed to ensure accuracy between WMS and ERP systems 

Make necessary adjustments to reflect accurate inventory in the warehouse management system (WMS) as directed / authorized, ensuring that the appropriate standard operating procedure (SOP) is followed and adequate back-up records are maintained 

Communicate effectively with head office Product Supply, Logistics, Customer Service and Finance departments as required when resolving discrepancies 

Act as the main point of contact in the DC for Tech and other SCM departments to coordinate DC requirements for testing related to system upgrades and issues fixes 

Execute established test scripts thoroughly and validate results in conjunction with the DC Ops to support SAP Quarterly system release and approved RFC’s 

Participate in meetings with DC Operations staff and local Tech staff as needed to ensure issues are clearly understood and resolve systemic issues affecting DC performance 

Communicate effectively with other SCM departments to assist in improving the overall understanding of the DC WMS and its interactions with the ERP 

Provide recommendations for continuous process improvement in the DC based on an expert’s level systems knowledge 

Provide the required training to assist in the development of new and existing employees that need to acquire / improve knowledge of the WMS and/or the ERP to effectively perform their job 

Continuously evolve knowledge of all required systems by participating in training provided and engaging with users in other departments to learn from their expertise 

Document all processes in order to assist the Inventory Control Manager in ensuring effective departmental SOP’s are developed, updated and adhered to 

Other duties as assigned by the Inventory Control Manager 

 

Key Relationships:

 

This position will work with SAP Technical Support Team and local Tech, WMS/WCS Super Users, Compliance, Customer Service, Logistics and Finance 

DC Inventory Control and DC Ops Management 

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

 

Strong aptitude for understanding complex, integrated information systems 

Strong analytical skills for problem identification and resolution development 

Working knowledge of DC operations, including storage methods and material flow 

Strong working knowledge of computer systems and multiple WMS and ERP platforms including but not limited to Manhattan, SAP, Omni Hub 

Strong organizational and meeting skills, and communication across all levels of business 

Proven abilities to be accountable, detail oriented and thorough. 

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

Previous experience in a role designated as a system “Super User” is an asset 

University or Community College graduate or equivalent education and experience in related industry 

A minimum of 3 years of previous experience working with information systems to provide analysis, complete research and perform testing 

Minimum three year’s ERP and/or WMS experience 

Strong knowledge in MS Office; Excel
