Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide inclusive support to students who have autism and complex behaviour needs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• supporting students with autism and complex behaviour needs
• assisting students with communication, social interaction, behaviour and academic skills
• demonstrating positive behaviour and social skills
• assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
• providing one-on-one and small group support
• supervising students during unstructured times such as recess

Education/Qualifications

• a two year post secondary program in a related field
• a minimum of two years of related experience preferably in an educational environment
• experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
• experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
• proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
• excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
• NVCI, First Aid

Rate of Pay

$22.64 - $28.70 per hour
