Our Team
Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
The Mechanical Maintenance Execution Team in Long Harbour is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities for planned and unplanned preventative and repair maintenance tasks. They are expected to follow the weekly maintenance schedule and execute the work as planned based on equipment availability, while also responding to any repairs required during a process upset to ensure the plant continues to run. They enforce and implement safety programs (ie: Golden Rules, Tool Box Talks, CRM/LIF Audits, etc.) to help prevent accidents before they occur. They also work collaboratively with other disciplines and support where needed.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking two (2) Maintenance Supervisors (Coordinators) to join our team in the Maintenance Department in Long Harbour, NL. This is a full-time permanent position, with a rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off.
The Maintenance Supervisor (Coordinator) is responsible for leading a team of technical resources in compliance with Vale standards and world class best practices. Interfacing with Maintenance and Operations personnel, this position is a critical component to ensure plant efficiency is optimized without impact to safety, the environment, or the community.
In this position, you will:
Execute all approved maintenance work orders in accordance with maintenance procedures with respect to work methods, resource requirements, materials, and established scheduling deadlines.
Coordinate and oversee work scopes performed by internal and external contractors in your assigned areas.
Assign work in compliance with daily and weekly schedules and deviate for urgent work only as prescribed within the framework of established maintenance policies and procedures;
Utilize established Work Management systems to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of work and the system to continuously improve work procedures;
Manage emergency and breakdown situations independently, drawing on external resources as required;
Collaborate with Maintenance Engineering, Technical Services, and Operations on capital and maintenance projects to perform all such work efficiently with minimal disruption to production operations;
About You
Education
Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson, Technician or Technologist Certification in a mechanical field;
CET considered an asset;
Post-secondary education within a related field will also be considered;
Experience
5+ years' experience with hands-on technical maintenance work and/or supervision in a complex industrial environment preferred;
Experience with SAP an asset;
Demonstrated experience coordinating maintenance work planning activities an asset;
Skills
Excellent organization, communication (written and oral), as well as interpersonal skills;
Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
Able to build and maintain strong positive relationships across multiple work groups;
