Job description

This is a contract position for a DevOPS / Cloud Engineer for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
· Knowledge and understanding of the application and technology architecture definition and integration needs related to shared infrastructure and middleware
· Experience and knowledge in providing logical and physical level technology analysis at both the architectural and functional design levels
· Experience in n-tier and structured methodologies and service-oriented architecture for the architectural design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications
· Knowledge of enterprise security standards and hands-on experience in securing compute environments
· Experience administering Unix based environments

· Hands on Experience with DevSecOps and profiling tools
· Hands on Experience with API Gateway, API routing, API security and integrations
· Knowledge of centralized logging and auditing
· Experience with virtualization technologies and application development frameworks

Desirable Skills:
· Experience with virtualization technologies; VMware, Server virtualization; and within the following application development frameworks: Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, AngularJS, Python, Ruby, Node.JS, HTML, JavaScript, C++, SQL, API, Microservices, Service Mesh etc.
· 5+ years experience in planning, designing, implementing, evaluating, and analyzing large transactional middleware platform with distributed computing
· Experience with middleware application suite such as but not limited to;
o (1) IBM WebSphere Application Server/NDM;
o (2) IBM WebSphere Process Server/BPEL;
o (3) Crystal Enterprise Reporting System;
o (4) Message Brokering/Queueing
o (5) Portal Services
o (6) IBM DataPower
o (7) Deployment Automation
o (8) Middleware Monitoring tools e.g. ITCAM
o (9) OpenShift
· Experience working with GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Urban Code Deploy, Urban Code Velocity, Maven, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, ASOC, Sysdig etc.
· Experience setting up and troubleshooting with profiling tools such as Dynatrace
· Strong working/architecture knowledge of run time environments, Intel and Unix platforms, Microsoft Operating Systems, Solaris Operating Systems, Networking
· Technology vision and architectural leadership
· Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture gating processes
· Extensive hands-on experience with technology aspect of Service-Oriented and Container/ Component-based architecture and design
· Extensive experience with the implementation in Middleware technology such as JMS, MQ Series and ESBs (Enterprise Service Bus)
· Experience in SOA, SOAP, Web Services and Messaging technology
· Experience with ELK stack and Kafka implementations
· Experience in the Logical and Physical Architectural design of enterprise cross vertical applications
· Experience in GO-PKI and True Pass Security infrastructure
· Knowledge and understanding of OPS Corporate I&IT information architecture strategy, policies, plans, current and emerging IT architecture principles, methodologies, mechanisms and techniques, to analyze, develop and implement application and technology architecture

Qualifications
