PSA Halifax is recruiting for a System Administrator Infrastructure

This role provides an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful container terminal operation on the East Coast of Canada. Principal Accountabilities:
- Document and organize systems, machines, inventory, IPs, and processes.
- Manage Windows and Linux servers.
- Manage network requests, including DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), DNS (Domain Name System), and VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks).
- Support the creation of monitoring procedures and keep the monitoring tool up to date.
- Support the teams role by participating in meetings to decide on infrastructure changes.
- Collaborate with the system administrator's team for effective decision-making and support of the company's infrastructure.
- Administer and monitor existing production systems and networks to ensure stability and reliability, addressing any issues that arise and keeping the platform stable.
- Make approved configuration changes to environments and be on call 24/7 for emergency duties when necessary.
- Ensure safety and stability of environments software patching and maintenance.
Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- 3+ years of technical experience
- Hands-on experience working in production environments for administration and monitoring
- Linux, Windows, and VMWare from a system administrator perspective.
- Networking and storage knowledge is also required.
- Experience with server administration for local and cloud environments
- Experience with scripting languages, such as Powershell on Windows and shell script for Linux
- IBM middleware software and DB2.
- SQLServer
- Previous Oracle implementation is considered an asset.
- Experience in supporting Database management (SQLServer, DB2, MySql, preferentially)
- Experience working with a local team environment integrated with other local IT Teams
- Ability and desire to learn new environments, technologies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to master documentation
- Works well under pressure supporting production environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must posses valid drivers' license and reliable mode of transportation to support multiple data center locations in Halifax.
