Job description

This is a contract position for a Technology Specialist for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
In this role will be required to:
- fulfill the role of subject matter expert within GSIC for Catalyst-based business & occupational registry systems including OBR and PSIS
- liaise with multiple business stakeholders on an ongoing basis to clarify business requirements/processes, reconcile competing business requirements and their impacts on the registry systems, provide oversight and hands-on support for implementation of enhancements, and assist in ongoing activities to maintain/optimize system performance
- develop, make recommendations, implement, and manage the technical architecture (including hosting, middleware, data tier, communications, etc.) used for Catalyst-based transactional registries in the Ministry’s distributed, enterprise computing environment

- design and execute implementation/deployment strategies (including CI/CD pipeline) for the API gateway within the SUS OBR architecture
- provide hands-on technical analysis, troubleshooting and support for all facets of production registry systems including integration with internal and external partners, application maintenance, ongoing deployments, rollout of API gateway platform, etc.
- provide leadership and deep technical problem-solving skills to support technical team members in alignment with overall project plans for operational support and enhancement of mission-critical Java EE-based registry applications and their related ecosystems

Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex, multitier architectures for mission-critical transactional registry systems, including middleware, gateways, and standards-based web service technologies such as IBM DataPower, IBM API Connect, SOAP, WSDL, and ReST
- Experience with distributed application development using object-oriented design/programming and Java EE (current and legacy versions) including IBM WebSphere Application Server, LDAP, Oracle, SQL, JSPs, Servlets, Eclipse, Java archive packaging & deployment
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD concepts as well as source control, source-code management, and application deployment using tools such as Git, Jenkins, IBM UrbanCode Deploy and Velocity
