At the Toronto Design Centre, our Product Development teams provide solutions to our customers through the design and development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies. In this role, you will:
- Lead a Power Supply development project from concept through to manufacturing introduction.
- Have advanced expertise and experience in power supply design.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee very complex, or multiple complex technical projects, including cross-functional projects where a high degree of judgment and independence are required in developing solutions and resolving unusual problem situations.
- Lead a Power Supply development project from kickoff through to manufacturing introduction.
- Have decision-making authority and autonomy to deliver on technical project goals as applicable.
- Supervise the work of engineers (all classifications) and technologists working on a project or advanced technology development.
- Ensure technical integrity of the design.
- When required interface with the customer to communicate technical information.
- When required negotiate with the customer to achieve agreement for product spec requirements.
- Ensure that the design conforms to corporate engineering procedures.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
- Ensure design is documented to ISO9001 procedures.
- Ensure the design meets product spec, cost, performance and schedule requirements.
- Perform schematic entry, calculations, simulations, & bread-boarding in the design process
- Implementation of microcontroller firmware and hardware for power management/control functions in Power Supplies.
- Design circuits and perform tests and evaluations for design verification & integrity
- Must keep him/herself up to date with innovations with trends in Power Electronics.
Experience Required
- Electronics Engineering Degree
- Engineer = PEO Licensed
- Designer = Degree OR Equivalent Work Experience.
- 12+ years of experience in analog/power supply design
- Experience with various topologies and components used in single phase and three phase power supply design and with magnetics design
- Experience with implementing control algorithm in microcontroller or DSP using C programing
- Experience with the use of MathCAD and PSPice simulation tools and product safety (such as grounding)
- Experience in electronic packaging (high density SMT, PCB layout techniques, planar transformers, EMI, thermal)
- Experience in high volume manufacturing requirements (e.g. DFx) (plastics/metal/PCB/production Test)
