Job Description: The Mental Health and Addictions Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care and mental health and addictions care. The RN (NP) promotes holistic, promotion and prevention care with an understanding of the determinants of health. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families and communities. This includes community needs assessment, supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.

Supervision Received:
This position reports to the Manager Mental Health and Addictions- Outpatients. The incumbent is self-directed and requires minimal supervision

Required Qualifications

CanReach-Sk program considered an asset
Level C - Basic Cardiac Life Support
Minimum one (1) year nursing experience working with child and youth populations including those with mental health and addictions
Registered with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SNRA) and licensed as RN (NP).
Three (3) years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse
Two years (2) full-time experience working in an advanced RN (NP) role including community needs assessment, community development and health promotion
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
