Project Coordinator experienced in municipal roadway construction wanted!
The Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch leads the process of integrating and leveraging a scope of work that maximizes the full potential for strong and sustainable neighbourhoods. We’re at the heart of aligning and advancing multi-faceted neighbourhood renewal efforts with a focus on neighbourhood roadway reconstruction.
You will be focused on and accountable for the delivery phase, however, you will be fully engaged, supporting throughout the lifecycle of the project.
With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will be accountable for the following:
- Support a Program/Project Manager to deliver projects on time, on budget and within scope
- Act as a project liaison for the Program/Project Manager with the consultants and contractors
- Monitor and report risk to the Program/Project Manager
- Use project management systems and best practices to support projects efficiently and effectively
- Support stakeholder engagement activities and processes
- Apply City of Edmonton Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines to each project with support from Branch Safety Officer
- Liaise with business partners and engage the public and stakeholders throughout the project
- Lead and support projects with public engagement plans and activities in accordance with the Branch public engagement charter
- Foster an inclusive culture of collaboration amongst project teams, across the corporation and beyond
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications :
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree OR a Diploma in a related field such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Business or Project Management
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible project experience with a Degree OR a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible project experience with a Diploma
- Course work and/or training in project management, public engagement, financial management or leadership is an asset
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to successfully complete the delivery of municipal roadway construction projects, including solving complex and sensitive issues with a solid understanding of construction processes related to civil construction and within a municipal political environment.
- Strong project coordination skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)
- Experience reviewing, supporting, and administering contracts for municipal roadway construction projects of significant size, scope, duration, and contract value
- Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate, write reports and present material
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Experience working with external consultants and contractors
- Experience working with relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.)
- Knowledge and background in computers and computer applications in project management/construction environment including Google Applications (Docs, Sheets, Forms), SAP and e-Builder
- Strong ability to create accurate and complete job hazard analysis, site reports and other written documentation project management framework
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Applicant may be required to obtain business use auto insurance.

Up to 1 permanent full-time position available
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week during the regular season, peak season (construction) hours will alternate to a 40-hour workweek
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary:
- 40 hours: $38.287 - $48.068 (Hourly); $79,943.260 - $ 100,365.980 (Annually)
- 33.75 hours: $40.517 - $50.871 (Hourly); $71,380.820 - $89,621.980 (Annually)
