Our office in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is looking for a detail oriented, organized, and dependable Payroll Clerk to join our finance team.

Summary of the Role:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Clerk will provide administrative and organizational assistance primarily to the Payroll Manager and their team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in an administrative capability to work both independently and in a professional team environment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and reliability in the work performed. A high degree of good judgement and an ability to maintain confidentiality on highly sensitive matters is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Veriiy data on timesheets and enter into the database on a weekly basis for all hourly employees.
• Send out cheques and reports to employees and management.
• File timesheets and reports - both paper-based and digital.
• Process new hires and lay offs.
• Complete monthly remittances for unions.
• Assist with annual T4 processing.
• Organize and archive records and documents as needed.
• Assist with other assigned duties within the Payroll department as required.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills:

• Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
• Completion of a College business diploma and/or accounting experience would be an asset.
• Basic payroll knowledge and the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
• Familiar with computerized payroll systems.
• Able to create, maintain and manipulate excel spreadsheets.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of independence; can be relied upon to follow work through to completion.
• Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, and work with confidential information while maintaining absolute discretion.
• Demonstrated speed and accuracy of computerized data input.
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization.
