Field Representative - Contract

Job description
Reporting to the Raw Procurement Manager, the Field Representative will be a results-driven, self-starter who is always looking for opportunities for improvement, and can adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Relationships and Contacts:
- This position reports to the Raw Procurement Manager.
Major Responsibilities:
- You will join a team of raw product professionals dedicated to providing the best possible raw to our Lethbridge potato processing facility.
- Visit growers to maintain strong business relationships. Address any issues they may have, monitor potato storages for quality, monitor fields.
- Work closely with Raw Product Supervisor to assess grower issues, potato requirements and organize potato deliveries.
- Visit grower fields and storages as necessary obtaining samples as required.
- Responsible for obtaining lowest cost price raw material.
- Participate in learning opportunities to enhance your extension skills, providing the best possible advice to our contract grower
- Provide timely data on potato quality to Cavendish Farms Management team.
- Work very closely with Production staff to determine their needs and balance to potatoes
- Report food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate actions.
- Assist with the supervision 6 hourly truck unloading and potato grading staff

Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Using or wearing the protective equipment designated by the accident prevention policy.
- Follow safe work procedures.
- Reporting immediately to their supervisor any unsafe conditions or acts.
- Reporting all accidents or injuries to your supervisor immediately.
Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Commitment to Quality System Policy
- Enforce quality and food safety programs within the role
- Communication of food safety issues to related department and action within the role
- Active participation in food safety, food security, health, sanitation, hygiene and quality program within the role
Qualifications and Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or Technical Diploma in Agriculture.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience would be beneficial.
- Exposure to a food operating plant environment would be an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
- A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative
- CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) or eligible for the certification and pesticide application license would be considered an asset.
