Responsibilities
Basic Function/Essential Duties:
(Those duties that are fundamental to the position’s existence)
- Leads and guides lean initiatives within the Division. Works with Plant level management on Lean projects using lean tools and metrics. Assists in the development of a Lean Strategy to be implemented division-wide.
- Coordinate initiatives for the Division and train associates how to continually eliminate waste.
- Assist the steering committees and teams established at the locations with implementing the Lean principles, techniques, and methodologies according to Corporate requirements.
- Deliver of business improvements and cost savings through the delivery of improvement projects.
- Provides effective change management, leadership, and optimization in implementing the corporate WIN strategy across the Division. Serves as a catalyst for successful and sustained lean implementation.
- Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting material control, product quality and customer service goals.
- Coach effectively to increase capabilities across the site for Green Belts and Problem Solving (Kaizen/A3)
- Position must understand the current culture by reviewing existing documentation of policies and procedures. Position is responsible for working with all operating disciplines by using value stream management to develop a master plan of meeting the goals of Lean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Four-year degree or equivalent.
- Ability to articulate the desired state, purpose and value of lean and constantly moving in the direction of waste elimination.
- Understanding of financial measurements and goals and has good analytical skills.
- Five to seven years of manufacturing experience demonstrating a self-starting and hands-on quality.
- A good understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S+S, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC, Problem Solving, Communication Tools and ISO, QS9000 or similar.
- Has participated in numerous other Kaizen events preferably in both the manufacturing and office areas.
- Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean enterprise.
