Position Title: Learning Facilitator – Discipline and Appeals
Position Term: Part Time (Honorarium)
Location: Vaughan, Ontario
Reports To: Manager, Member Services

Ontario Soccer is actively searching for talented and ambitious individuals who are passionate about the field of sport management and want to apply their knowledge at Canada’s largest provincial sport organization.

Founded in 1901, Ontario Soccer is currently comprised of more than 500 Clubs servicing over 24,000 teams with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 6,000 match officials, as well as countless volunteers, parents and supporters encompassing a direct, multi-cultural  community of over 1,000,000 Ontarians.

Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services throughout Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in collaboration and cooperation with our member District Associations, partners and other stakeholders. Ontario Soccer also operates the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL); the province’s premier standards based youth development program, as well as “Team Ontario”, Ontario Soccer’s provincial Xcel program. Ontario Soccer proudly supports Canada Soccer’s National Teams, the Canadian Premier League
and Toronto FC.

The overall objective of Ontario Soccer as a hub for Coach, Match Official and Player Development is to be innovators and leaders in sport and to assist with the equitable development of soccer as a healthy lifestyle choice, provide a talented pathway for participants to excel and encourage inclusive community involvement at all levels.


Position Summary:
Ontario Soccer’s Discipline and Appeals program is responsible for facilitating and supporting the various elements of Discipline, Appeals and Dispute Resolution. All policies and procedures pertaining to matters in the areas of Discipline, Appeals and Dispute Resolution fall under the jurisdiction of Ontario Soccer for the management, coordination and delivery of education courses. To better prepare the future growth and expansion of programming offered to the discipline community throughout the province, Ontario Soccer is seeking qualified individuals interested in becoming Learning Facilitators.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate the following Discipline and Appeal Courses
o Core Discipline Certificate Course
o Chair Discipline Certificate Course
o Case Manager Certificate Course
• Create an interactive learning environment through modeling positive and engaging behaviours throughout the delivery of the courses.
• Deliver Ontario Soccer provided material and content
• Treat all course participants and hosts with respect and dignity
• Facilitate courses by following the agreed upon delivery schedule with Ontario Soccer
• Serve as an ambassador for the game of soccer in Ontario representing both Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer’s best practices in all interactions throughout the soccer community
• Attend, in their entirety, all of Ontario Soccer’s Learning Facilitator meetings and continuing education sessions
• Take lead on the necessary preparation for course delivery as assigned
• Prepare and be familiar with course content ahead of time and accurately plan based upon participant numbers
• Proactively communicate to all candidates regarding all program commitments and ensure open communication lines with Ontario Soccer Member Services staff
• Provide a post-course report to the Manager, Member Services within 2 weeks and provide any other information to Ontario Soccer as requested from time to time
• Complete written self-assessments post-course delivery within 2 weeks, using provided templates


Experience and Skills
The preferred candidates will possess the following background and characteristics:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience serving as Discipline Chair and Discipline Panel Member
• Strong leadership, teaching, organization and communication skills
• Well-developed time and people management skills
• Personal commitment to continual professional development and learning
• Previous learning facilitator and/or teaching experience is considered an asset
• In depth understanding of the discipline system, the Operational Procedure Section 12, Section 13, Section 14, and Section 15.


Qualifications and Requirements
The preferred candidates will possess the following training:
• Level 1 Discipline and Appeals Course
• Core Discipline Certificate Course
• Chair Discipline Certificate Course


All applicants’ training must be current and up to date as of 2023. Expired certifications are not accepted.
