Position Summary
The Associate Student Ministry Director (ASMD) works closely with the Student Ministry Director (SMD) to lead students (Grades 5-12) in Simcoe County into a growing relationship with Jesus. They will support the SMD in the weekly, ongoing work of the student ministry at Connexus Church.
They will be entrusted with various organizational, leadership and ministry tasks, be responsible for the delivery of regular student programming and special student events, and help create meaningful experiences that lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Reports to: Student Ministry Director
Key Requirements:
- A growing and authentic relationship with Jesus.
- A strong connection with the now-generation.
- A visionary, driver, and motivator.
- 1-2 years experience working with Middle or High School students.
- Confidence on stage and in front of small to large groups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong behavioural management skills.
- Strong pastoral skills in dealing with students, volunteers, and parents and be able to handle conflict well.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have experience working with volunteers and building volunteer teams.
- Must be creative and mission orientated in reaching students within Simcoe County.
Overall Responsibilities Include:
- Support the mission and vision of Connexus Church.
- Work with the SMD with Sunday and mid-week programming.
- Recruit, encourage, train, and schedule volunteers.
- Collaborate with the SMD in preparing an annual budget.
- Oversee the Student Ministry Intern.
- Oversee the Student Leadership Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Events and Retreats Coordination
- Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of all student events and retreats, including registration, communications, reservations, room assignments, bus assignments, check-in, scholarships, and host homes and camps.
- Lead the student guest experience teams at all events.
- Assist in coordinating the scholarship process for each event.
- Manage the process flow for the event registration website in collaboration with the web/IT team.
- Provide accurate email communication/correspondence to all parents.
- Responsible for finding and training volunteers for events.
Administrative Support
- Assist with general ministry communication (emails and phone calls).
- Manage the online calendaring system for all events using Asana and Google Calendar.
- Produce any special reports needed for the ministry using Planning Center.
- Process and follow up on all background checks for student ministry volunteers.
- Assist group directors in placing new students by keeping groups up to date.
- Support the SMD as needed.
Sunday/ Mid-Week Responsibilities
- Assist in providing training for volunteers on the host team 3-5 times per year.
- Ensure team captains have the resources and information needed to lead their teams with excellence weekly.
- Pastoral care responsibilities as needed.
- Communicate small group information to new students and families.
- Responsible for reporting student attendance each Sunday/mid-week and manage weekly reports.
- Set and maintain the leader room each Sunday/mid-week.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week approximately (includes weekends and some nights to support student events and services).
Remuneration: Commensurate with experience.
