Architectural Technologist, St. John's

* This is an in-office role (not remote/hybrid)

Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with John Hearn Architect Inc. in search of a full-time permanent Architectural Technologist for their St. John's location.

The successful candidate must be a certified Architectural Technologist with competencies in building science, mechanics, specifications, fire and life safety, accessibility and national building code. Software proficiency in using Revit, BIM360 and Bluebeam software is an absolute requirement. AutoCad would be considered an asset. The candidate would possess strong accuracy, quality and efficiency in the design and documentation process.

They have been the creative force behind some of Newfoundland and Labrador's most iconic new buildings including the Adult Mental Health and Addictions Facility, St. John's International Airport East and West expansion, MUN Core Science Facility and the MUN Bruneau Centre, just to name a few.

The Job

• Conduct basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material for application and implementation into design, detailing, and documentation
• Assist with investigating/verifying existing conditions including documentation, measurement, and condition, etc
• Participate in client meetings and stakeholder engagement workshops including user group meetings and prepare meeting minutes
• Assist with all requirements, as the firm works through pre-design to post construction services

Qualifications

• Proficient with Revit, BIM360 and Bluebeam. AutoCad would be considered an asset
• General understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, ProCore and Newforma would also be an asset
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
• Driven to achieve technical excellence
• Ability to engage and work within a creative and critical integrated design practice
• Ability to participate and contribute to a project team setting
• General knowledge of accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes for a wide variety of project types
• General knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards
• Proficiency in understanding the relationship between drawings and specifications

Education/Experience

• Diploma in Building or Architectural Technology or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction / design industry. More experience is considered an asset and those with more experience are recommended to apply
