Job Summary Dalhousie University, under the leadership of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI), administers over $200M annually in research and innovation funding. Under the Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement (OCIE), as part of Dal Innovates, and reporting to the Associate Director, Dal Innovates, the Project Coordinator will develop and manage program communications, as well as serve as a project manager for programming, to support Dal Innovates goal of community engagement, and developing a culture of innovation
Key Responsibilities - Develop and manage content for the Dal Innovates website including design, maintenance and hosting as the website is housed outside of Dalhousie. Manage social media channels and content development. Manage contractors to develop assets. Manage related budgets.
- Ensure all communications efforts connect students with resources that allow them to make the most of their experience. Lead search engine optimization of pages, analytics, and metrics for website use.
- Conduct internal stakeholder engagement to ensure strategy alignment with the Office of the VPRI as well as other OCIE business units within Dalhousie e.g. Sandboxes, Emera ideaHUB. Lead story development with Dal Innovates and Office of the VPRI teams.
- Develop and manage a project plan that ensures the implementation of Dal Innovates initiatives, including information systems that facilitate programming, analysis, evaluation and reporting of Dal Innovates delivery.
- Determine independently the level/form of analysis required based on anticipating the queries and interests of various actors across the university. Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders, including convening various groups for dialogue.
Note The position infrequently will need to participate in sessions and provide support outside of normal working hours.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines
Required Qualifications - Undergraduate degree in relevant field plus approximately three to five years related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Experience in the successful development, launch and success of new initiatives and programming.
- Familiarity with experiential learning in a university setting or alternately with the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Halifax.
- Superb communication (verbal and written) skills as well as experience in marketing and communications.
- Ability to work within accelerated deadlines and under pressure, and a good familiarity with project management.
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of word processing, social media, spreadsheets, database management, web page design and development, and online design tools, e.g. Canva.
Assets - Experience in a university setting, with time devoted to managing projects, administering programs and/or servicing students.
